Bandit’s snout tilted upwards to the sky and moved from side to side as he drew in big gulps of air. Today, the air inside the Spotted Dog Yoga van smelled especially sweet to Bandit…even though the passenger window of the Spotted Dog Yoga van was rolled down, Bandit kept his head inside to enjoy the smell of pet food.
Two Thursdays ago, Bandit and I headed to San Andreas to drop off a FULL van load of pet food and supplies in support of the domestic pets who had been displaced by the Butte Fire. These supplies were all donated by members of the Spotted Dog Yoga and Folsom communities to support our “Emergency Pack The Van” efforts.
We unloaded all of the goods at the headquarters for PAWS (Performing Animal Welfare Society) and they shuttled everything to the shelters that were housing the displaced animals.
On the way home, Bandit and I had some time to reflect on our “Emergency Pack The Van” experience. When we are willing to be of service to those in need, it is no longer about ourselves but the community at large. When we step outside of ourselves with the intention of service, we are able to connect to the world and the people around us.
To all who donated, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support. The displaced domestic animals from the Butte Fire are better because of YOUR service.
